Blog Hop with a Difference ...

If you a scrap blog reader you may have noticed the blog hop with a difference happening across the creative blogosphere :)

I was nominated by the gorgeously talented Chloe Nielson and I recommend you hop back and check out her blog HERE and swing past her handmade embellies shop Rainbow Splendour HERE. Thanks for the nomination Chloe you know I am a fan!!

Next are the answers to the questions for my part of the blog hop!

1. What am I working on right now :

Here's a sneak peek of whats on my scrap desk at the moment

It's a work in progress and I really don't know how it will turn out but that is how I roll!

2. How long does it take to create a project:

This is really hard to answer as some times layouts and projects come together really quickly but as I am really stretched for time now I usually scrap in 15 - 30min bursts between all my other commitments :)

This layout was one I did for the D-Lish Scraps cyber crop but didn't get time to upload :)

3. What are my fave things I love to create

with at the moment:

I Love the following:

Sparkling H2O's
Gelato's
Stencils
Stamps
Book paper
GESSO!

4. How does my writing/creating process work:

Well I am a bit of a slap it together and deal with the consequences later kinda girl. I have put together a bit of a photo step by step of the following layout to show you how I work:

Amigos Para Siempre

Step by step in pics!

I started off with this heavy gsm board as it holds the mixed media products best.

Now I got a bit carried away (lost in the scrap moment and so close to the start i know!!) and forgot to photograph the steps between here but use your imagination and pretend that I did! I LOVE book paper and I picked up this dictionary at a local op shop for $1 so I could scrap with it :) I simply tore strippy bits and stuck them down on the board using gel medium in a kinda hour glass shape. Next I used a dotty stencil and gesso over the top.

The next step I chose out some mists and randomly sprayed over background. You may ask why these colours and the answer is simply because the blue one was new!

I wasn't quite happy with the result and felt it needed a lil' sumpin' so when in doubt as peach.

Next I added a few touches of the gold Inka Gold by scooping out a small amount onto my mat, adding a bit of water and using a paint brush to apply.

Once it had all dried off I grabbed my new stamp and black Archival Ink and "rolled" the stamp onto the background here and there for some depth.

Next I chose what photo I wanted to use and rummaged through my Scrapmatts chippies till I found what would work and positioned and stuck down. (I didn't end up using the smaller packet of rose chippies as I just snipped the longer one and used the bits that would have been covered up by the photo.)

I then painted the roses with the H2O.  (I know that it says Mustard Green but it is an awesomely cool antique gold kinda colour :) I painted the fame with gesso and the actual rose flowers blue but I can't remember what I used (sorry! lost in the moment again!)

I then added some D-Lish flowers (and some gold Prima ones) and a laser cut butterfly that I had used the other half yonkers ago.

Lastly I added some lace and velvet trim, a quote sticker and the title which I painted with the gold H2O again. I then went back and traced around my title with a black pen (I really wanted to use white but I couldn't find it and was too impatient to look for it! - UPDATE: I found it today on my husbands art table mmmm, found it's own way there I think!)

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired:

I love using tools and mediums! I watch LOTS of online tutes and process vidoes and muck around with new techniques. I also am a sucker for challenges.

6. What is my signature style:

I think the season my scrapbooking in is an experimentally messy one! I think mixed media back grounds with traditional and handmade elements :) kinda fits as a description.

Thanks so much for letting me share a bit about my creativity :)

Next stops on Monday 4th August:

Anne Patterson:  All round fantastic scrappy chick and girl Anne has gotta be one of the Australian Scrap stars' good girls :) She is one of the Scrapbook Memories current masters and has designed for nearly every challenge blog out there! Check out the Stitching queen HERE.

Geli Duncan: Geli was the very first online scrapper that I met "in real life" and I was super happy that went I did meet her she was definitely not an old man (you never know when you met online!) Again Geli is Aussie scrap royalty with the most versatile style ever and  currently one of the Scrapbook Creations Diva's. Check out Miss Technique herself HERE.

Katie Howard: Ok, I have to admit that Katie is one of my scrappy crushes and I did FB stalk her (blush)  but I am sure you will agree her work is super fresh and funky! I was lucky to meet Katie irl as well recently and am glad to report she most definitely wasn't a man either! Check out Ms mix and match HERE.
